Aerators
Philadelphia Mixing Solutions and Mixing Solutions Limited actively develops impeller aerators designed specifically to address your process needs.
Philadelphia Mixing Solutions and Mixing Solutions Limited offer three technologically advanced aeration systems:
- Talon Surface Aeration System
- Raptor Floating Aeration System
- Submerged Turbine Aeration System
Talon
The Talon Surface Aeration System continuously demonstrates superior performance for oxygenation and mixing. Both large scale standardized ASCE testing and field installation performance have established that the Talon efficiency exceeds that of other surface aerators, in terms of both Standard Aeration Efficiency (SAE) and power consumption.
TALON surface aerator impeller geometry was developed and perfected with extensive lab testing in the world’s largest and most comprehensive mixing/aeration test facility. This resulted in a patented design that delivers effective mixing and oxygenation.
The Talon Impeller has been specifically designed for low speed aeration and not only provide optimum surface turbulence and oxygen transfer but also to provide optimum liquid phase mixing. Optimum liquid phase mixing ensures that depleted or oxygen poor liquid is recirculated to the dispersion area in the most efficient manner, thereby maximizing the aeration efficiency or oxygen transferred for a specific energy input.

Raptor
The Raptor platform is a directional mixing and aeration platform designed and intended to be implemented in large basins such as industrial waste water lagoons. As these lagoons are often wide and long but shallow, the raptor platform is design to produce a large mixing plume. The raptor is installed such that each individual raptor plume is aimed such that several raptors in series configuration produce a large mixing network and hence a well-mixed volume which is able to aerate, suspend sludge, and maintain the maximum lagoon residence time for maximum conversion of the biodegradable oxygen demand (BOD).The Raptor system can be deployed to reclaim lagoons suffering from poor mixing vertical aerators which do not suspend solids. Lagoons operating with vertical aerators do not produce a well-mixed reactor and do not suspend solids causing the active volume to be significantly decreased leading to lower BOD conversion from a reduced lagoon residence time. The raptor platform can re-suspend the settled solids and improve BOD conversion returning the lagoon to its original performance characteristics.

STA
The Submerged Turbine Aeration System in water and waste water treatment plants, combines the three blade version of the GDX Impeller with a sparge ring supplied by a blower to disperse gas and feed oxygen to the biology. The Anti-ragging GDX impeller was designed to optimize the process requirements with the impeller performance. The gassing rates are much lower in these types of biological processes and by removing three of the blades from the original gas foil impeller, the impeller cost is optimized with the process requirement. In addition, the blade profile is swept back to prevent the impeller from collecting fibrous rags found in waste water treatment plants which cause the mixing system to fail. The Submerged Turbine Aeration System is the hybrid between a diffusor/compressor only aeration system and a mixer only low speed surface aerator system especially suited for swing zones which need to operate with both the air on and off.
