A Different Kind of Super Model
Posted by: Binxin Wu, PhDYou’ve most likely read or heard about CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) being a valuable tool for product design. And this is true. But the value of CFD goes beyond that. It helps us understand the mixing process overall and can be especially helpful if you have a system or design that is difficult to prototype or test through experimentation.
In the hands of an engineer with the right experience and knowledge, CFD analysis lets us virtually crawl inside and see things we would not be able to otherwise.
CFD can answer many “what if” questions because of the ability to predict what will happen under a given set of circumstances. It can also help predict how a design or system will perform under different variations. This helps us find an optimal solution. In a lot of cases, it is the only tool available for checking different process or mixing options.
The information we get from CFD modeling can really make a difference to help with your system performance, money savings, and compliance to industry standards or regulations.
